Smart Onboarding has an option provided in Employee Biographic Information for 'Applied for SSN' candidates. For instance, if aliens who go to United States on work, they may not have SSN when they step into the country. They need to apply for SSN and wait for few weeks before they receive the number. In the mean time, Until then employees can start to work temporarily without SSN, but once received they must provide the number to their employers immediately. In such cases, employees can complete their onboarding by choosing "Applied for SSN" checkbox on EBI. Also, the employer can complete employee's onboarding as normal except E-Verify. E-Verify cannot be completed without SSN. So they can skip E-Verify activity for time being, by marking it as complete.

When SSN is available to the employees,  they can After receiving SSN, employees can initiate SSN update process and provide the number to their employers by initiating SSN update self service process. As a part of this process, E-Verify activity will also be available to the employers for case creation.
