The four US states - Colorado (CO), North Dakota (ND), New Mexico (NM) and Utah (UT) use Federal Form W-4 for their state tax purposes. The sample 2022 tax withholding forms for these states are given below:

The tax filing status will be auto populated from the Federal Form W-4. Since these four states follow the Federal Form W4, the tax filing status of both Federal and State tax forms must be the same.

In case if you change the tax filing status, the system will display the following error message.
These forms are editable until the New Hire submits the onboarding information to HR.
Suppose, if you edit the tax filing status on the Federal form and the value on the State tax forms remains unaltered, the error will be captured on Submit to HR.
