Restart option allows I-9 Specialists to reopen the previously completed activities from Section 2 (Complete I-9).

When this action is performed, the activities that are completed earlier, open up for the New Hire to enter/edit and resubmit the information to HR for review and processing.

Who can do restart activities from Section 2?

Only I-9 Specialists can perform restart activities from Section 2.

How do you perform restart action from Section 2?

Click My Tasks on the home page Quick links bar.

All New Hire invitations whose onboarding process is at a point where the Complete I-9 activity is available and has not yet been completed are shown. Choose an invitation to perform restart action and click on the corresponding Complete I-9 link.

Form I-9 Section 2 opens for the I-9 specialist to enter information for one document from List A, or one document from List B AND one document from List C.

If you want the previous activities to be edited or entered again by the New Hire, click Restart Section 1 button provided at the bottom of Section 2.

Which activities can you restart from Section 2?

Form I-9 Section 1 and Electronic Biographic Information are the activities you can restart from Section 2.

How do you restart I-9 Section 1/EBI?

When Restart action is initiated, a page will be displayed to select an activity.

Click Restart group dropdown and select Restart EBI/Restart I-9 Section 1.

Select Restart Group as EBI, enter comment and click Submit.

Click OK on the message to confirm process restart.

The page navigates to Process Viewer with Biographic Information showing as pending.

When logged in as New Hire, the EBI activity & Submit to HR show as pending on their home page. Click Biographic Information link to access EBI activity.

The EBI page opens up for the New Hire to make changes. After modifying, save changes and submit to HR..

Note: Changing some of the fields on EBI will have an impact on downstream activities in onboarding. These impacted activities show as pending and you may have to complete them as well to complete the process.  For example: If SSN or Date of Birth is modified, Section 1 opens up for the New Hire to acknowledge and sign. Similarly, if home state is modified, you may have to redo the tax forms.

Take a look at the activities under Payroll and Taxes before modifying EBI. All are in completed state.

 Example 1: Let's change New Hire's Date of Birth and save EBI activity.




The Section 1 shows as pending and opens up for editing. This activity has to be completed before Submit to HR.

Example 2: Click Edit for Home address on Employee Information page.




Enter new home address and click OK.

A message will be displayed about the impact on Tax forms. Click OK on the message. 




The new address is shown on the EBI page. Click Save.

The process navigates to pending tax forms under Payroll and Taxes. These downstream activities must be completed before you submit the information to HR for review.
