Legal Entity Driver is an attribute chosen for processing I-9s in an organization. The system is delivered with Company set as default value. The value can be changed based on how you want to perform employment eligibility verification. For example: If you want to perform employment eligibility verification at the Business Unit level, change the Legal Entity Driver value to Business Unit. For legal entities that are participating in E-Verify, it is necessary to have an account set in DHS Client for accessing the USCIS E-Verify system

Who can access I-9 Legal Entity Driver?

The users with the following Role Types have access to the I-9 Legal Entity Driver.

How do you access I-9 Legal Entity Driver?

Click the Menu icon and select I-9 Options under Product Setup.




How do you change the value of I-9 Legal Entity Driver?

When you access the I-9 Options page, "Company" is shown as the default value in Legal Entity Driver.

Click on the dropdown to see the options.

Select the other value "Business Unit"  and click Save.

How do you create an account in DHS Client Setup?

The legal entities that are participating in E-Verify, should use their DHS User ID and Password in this setup for accessing the DHS web services.

For Company as legal entity, given below is an example of DHS account setup. Please refer to DHS Client Setup page for more details.

If Business Unit is chosen as the legal entity, you will be able to set the DHS User ID and Password for each Business Unit as shown below.
