US States using the Federal Form W-4

What states use Federal Form W-4 for their state tax purposes?

The states of North Dakota (ND), New Mexico (NM), and Utah (UT) use the Federal Form W-4 to calculate state income tax withholding.

Note: Prior to 2022, Colorado also used the Federal W-4 form for state tax withholding. However, as of 2022, Colorado requires the Colorado Employee Withholding Certificate (Form DR 0004) to be completed separately for state tax purposes.
