What is the E-Verify activity?

The only activity that shows under My Tasks for an E-Verify Specialist is E-Verify. In this activity, the E-Verify Specialist initiates the interface with the USCIS E-Verify system by creating an E-Verify case for the New Hire's I-9 and manages the process through to completion, ensuring that employee eligibility is determined and the USCIS case is properly closed.

Why do you need to perform the E-Verify activity?

Completion of the Form I-9 is a requirement to be hired in the United States. Completion of the form as part of Smart Onboarding includes validation of the New Hire's I-9 information by the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Who can perform the E-Verify activity?

This activity can be performed by any user who has the E-Verify Specialist role. Typically this role is assigned to users who have experience interfacing with the DHS E-Verify system.

When can you perform the E-Verify activity?

E-Verify processing can be performed after the I-9 Specialist completes or electronically signs the Section 2 activity.

How do you access the E-Verify activity?

If the logged-in user has both I-9 Specialist and E-Verify Specialist roles, the E-Verify activity will be automatically routed after completing the Section 2 task. Alternatively, the pending activity can be accessed through the My Task console or by using the Keyword Search My Tasks category.

Through the My Tasks Console:

Click the menu icon in the top left corner of the page, then select "My Tasks" under the Consoles section. Alternatively, you can click the "My Tasks" link in the Quick Links bar located below the homepage image.

All New Hire invitations that have reached the stage where the E-Verify activity is available but not yet completed will be displayed.

Click the "E-Verify" link for a specific transaction to open the pending E-Verify task, create the case, and proceed with further E-Verify processing.

If the E-Verify Specialist role has been granted access to download search results, a "Download File" option will appear in the console allowing them to download the search result to an excel file.

The search fields can be used to filter the results displayed in the console. In this example, the search results are filtered by the invitation Start Date. Clicking the "Download File" button will initiate the download of the filtered results as an Excel file to your local computer.

Through Keyword Search My Tasks:

Click the Keyword Search icon and select "My Tasks" as the category. Enter a relevant keyword in the Keywords field, then click the "Search" button. In this example, "All" is used as the search keyword.

The results page will display invitations that match the search criteria and have a pending E-Verify activity.

Clicking on the E-Verify link will open the E-Verify page, where you can create a New Hire's E-Verify case and carry out further processing for the employee's case.
