What is the E-Verify activity?

The only activity that shows under My Tasks for an E-Verify Specialist is E-Verify. The E-Verify activity consists of the initiation and completion of all processing through the DHS E-Verify System.

Why do you need to perform the E-Verify activity?

Completion of the I-9 form is a requirement to be hired in the United States.  Completion of the form as part of Smart Onboarding includes validation of the New Hire's I-9 information by the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Who can perform the E-Verify activity?

This activity can be performed by any user who has the DHS Administrator role. Typically this role is assigned to the users who have experience interfacing with the DHS E-Verify system.

When can you perform the E-Verify activity?

This activity can be completed only after the I-9 Specialist has marked the Complete I-9 activity as being complete.

How do you access the E-Verify activity?

The E-Verify activity can be accessed through "My Tasks" by the E-Verify Specialist. There are two ways to access My Tasks.
  • Through My Tasks Console
  • Through Keyword Search My Tasks

My Tasks Console:
Click on the menu icon and then select "My Tasks" under Consoles.
or
Click on "My Tasks" link on the Quick links bar.
Menu from the Home Page

All the New Hires whose onboarding process is at a point where the E-Verify activity is available and has not yet been completed are shown. The console features segments such as the search filter for refining and locating particular transactions, a Quick Filter for swiftly identifying a specific New Hire or generating a list of New Hires based on specific criteria, and the search results section where transactions matching the search criteria are displayed.

Click the "E-Verify" link on a specific transaction to create New Hire's E-Verify case and proceed with the E-Verify processing.

 My Tasks

If the E-Verify Specialist role has been granted access to download search results, a "Download File" option will appear in the console allowing them to download the search result to an excel file.

The search fields can be used to filter the search results displaying in the console. In this example, the search results are filtered by Start Date. Clicking on the "Download File" button will initiate the download of the search results displayed in the console as an Excel file to your local computer.

Through Keyword Search My Tasks:

Click on the Keyword Search icon and select "My Tasks" as the Category. Enter an appropriate keyword in the Keywords field and then click on "Search". Here, "All" is used as the search keyword.

The results page will display the rows with E-Verify pending activity.

Clicking on the E-Verify link will open the E-Verify page, where you can create a New Hire's E-Verify case and carry out further processing for the employee's case.
