Delete Setup

The main functionality of the Delete Setup is to systematically remove unnecessary or bad data which accumulates overtime. When too many validations are run against the same violations, this kind of data can also be removed. The functionality allows you to delete content, including:

Rules

Abilities

Functions

Severity Codes

Validation Rules


In the Search Type dropdown users are able to choose Validation Rules, Justification Codes, Model, Rule Categories, and Rules. Fill in the necessary fields and click on Search to see all the values which can be deleted by checking the Select Option. If there are many values that need to be deleted, use the Select All and De-Select All options.

Step-by-step guide

In order to Delete content:

  1. Choose from the Search Type what content type you wish to delete, as detailed above
  2. You may choose other search criteria, but the Model is mandatory for items excluding Functions (which are not dependent on Models)
  3. By clicking on search you will be presented with rows of content that match your search criteria
  4. For items you wish to delete, click on 'Select Option' and then press Delete
  5. Note, certain items that are joined to other records (for example Functions attached to Abilities) cannot be deleted until they have been removed from these records

You can utilize the PeopleSoft functionality to save and retrieve saved searches.


We recommend the use of backups for Smart SoD tables/records in the event a mistake is made in the deletion process.
