There are 2 major choices you can make when adding content to the home page: Category or Non Category Driven.

Category FieldBehavior
Yes
  • Choose predefined Content Categories
  • Categories have specific content types
  • Configure the Category content to display based on Attribute setup.
    • Examples:
      • Display different handbooks based on the Job Code of a New Hire
      • Display different News Items based on Job Location
  • Requires a Process revision change
No
  • Pick from predefined Content Types
  • Will show for all users, regardless of Dept., Location, etc.
  • No Process revision required

How do I add Category Content?

There are three steps to adding a Category Content:

  • Choose Driven by Category Yes
  • Choose a Category
  • Create a Process Revision
Category Driven FieldsBehavior
Driven By CategoryYes → Category ID
  • Configured to only affect certain master attributes/categories (done through revisions)
  • Ex. Department is a master attribute/category, and Human Resources is a single Department, so the revision can affect Human Resources only

Categories are predefined add ins that can be placed on the home page in a column.  These are the delivered categories and the type of content that each can contain.  In order to view the content in each Category you must associate the content to an Attribute via a Process Revisions.  The content you want to add must be entered via a Content Revisions prior to adding to the Process Revision.

How do I add Non-Category Content?

Non-category content will show for all users regardless of their attribute set up.

There are 3 types of home pages available to modify--System Administrator, all other Users and New Hires--so if you modify the page, all of the members of those 3 Role Types will see the content.  For more details, see the Organization Homepage Configuration document.

As with Category Types, you will need to add the content via a Content Revisions before adding it to the Homepage.
